Today's episode never really gets off the ground. That might be just as well... it's kind of about a bus! Or, if you're Sox... and Autobus!
Do you live in a part of the world where it snows? If it does snow... do they ever shut school down because of the snow?
Biddy and Bruin have heard from Douglas that there's a snow storm coming in over night. Biddy really wants school to be canceled. And so, she comes up with a plan to help the storm produce more snow. Because, the more it snows... the better chance that they will "shut 'er down!"
It's 10:10 PM on a school night. Biddy is up way past her bedtime. Douglas finds her in the kitchen..... writing a letter!?
You know how videos look when they are presented in slow motion? Life looks poetic when it's slowed down. It looks downright artistic when slow motion footage is combined with dreamy emotional music. This is the focus of this episode of the Modern Family Album.
Life in Slow Motion. It's poetic. It's artistic. It's available to you!
So... Still nursing my cold.
Here is a second attempt at "the Modern Family Album". In this installment, I decide to propose to you the joy in documenting the common everyday boring routine of life. The little things that you don't even notice as being the most grand memories of your future self.
You might think that birthdays, holidays and vacations might be the big memory makers. But... it's not. What you really want to preserve is your your kids' nightly homework routine.... the meals you eat.... the memory of your young one's Superman toothbrush.
Don't wait for the big events to turn your phone into a video camera. Try it today... try it tonight.... make the most routine moments the highlights of your future life.
While I nurse my massive winter cold... please enjoy a podcast by one of our great listeners... Ilona! She has been producing this "The Sometimes News" for almost a year now. It might be nice for our Biddy listeners to get a little treat from our friends in the mid-west.
This is her most recent episode from the holiday season.
Let us know what you think!
Hi Kids.... so, this isn't a Biddy Story but it is something important I'd like to share with the grownups at your house... something that I think needs to be shared....
So, if you could, hand this mobile device over to the grown up in your house and say "Hey... this isn't a Biddy Story... D wants to talk to the grown ups"
Thanks kids! I've waited a LONG time to do this and it seems now is the time to start.
Not since episode 149 has a Biddy episode been so strange, so silly. If you ever wanted to know what life is like inside of Biddy's head... this is it. Imagine... every day... pure, unfiltered silliness.
Have you ever had someone ask you for your thoughts and feelings? Biddy has. In fact, today they're trying to figure out what to make for dinner.... Biddy is asked what she thinks and feels about the different options.
But, when they find out that Bruin has eaton most of the ingredients... Biddy is asked her thoughts and feelings on that too!
Every school year brings new things. And, sometimes... a classroom of children welcomes the arrival of a new student.
But, where do new kids come from... Ebay? Amazon? Cleveland?
Biddy is getting a new kid in her classroom very soon. His name is Garrett. She and the treehouse friends are trying to get to the bottom of this burning question.
Tonight, Biddy welcomes back Dr. Reinhold Schweizinger. Dr. Schweizinger takes a moment to talk to the childrens of the world about the need to be serious and shiny during Christmas. It's a very busy time of year. A time of year for sweet treats, pudding, and candy-canes. There's many opportunities for the childrens to get way too silly. And it's not a time for that. All childrens must be serious and shiny.
Because no grownup wants to give presents to a child with pudding on their face. So, children... listen to the good Dr. Schweizinger... during the holiday season be SERIOUSILLY!
So, Wyatt decides he would like to sing a song for his first episode of "Wyatt's Wakeup Stories". Only problem is... Wyatt is not that strong of a singer. Biddy and Bruin are sitting on the other side of the room listening to the whole song as Wyatt and Douglas record it.
After the recording is done, Biddy decides to talk to Wyatt about his singing. She's not very polite about it and in turn, hurts Wyatt's feelings.
At this, Bruin suggests that Biddy is actually trying to sabotage Wyatt's efforts. It's complex psychological thriller as Bruin begins to untangle the inner workings of Biddy's sub-conscience. And a little silly too!
But, in the end... Biddy does the right thing. And, she doesn't jump the shark!
It's written in the contract that Biddy writes ALL theme song music. As such, she will write Wyatt's theme song for his podcast... "Wyatt's Wakeup Stories". Wyatt's not too excited about this... but, it doesn't turn out half bad bad....
Our dear Wyatt the Raccoon is feeling left out. Well, rather... he's feeling that Biddy gets all the attention and glory. So, he's come up with an idea... and idea that will bring him fame and riches! Well, maybe not all that, but he's come up with a pretty good idea!
I've always hoped that Biddy Stories would somehow change the world. It's that reason our stories are so different from anything else out there. There's a future for us all out there waiting to happen. The future is out there. It's not set in stone... no. The future is ours to shape.
In Minnesota, it is beginning to get cold. Very cold. If you live near a lake.... well, it's an exciting thing! Because the cold brings ice, and ice on a lake is a magical thing.
Imagine... standing in the middle of a large flat surface and underneath you is acres and acres of water. Put on a pair of skates and you are skating on water!
Aren't you glad that there are so so so many kinds of donuts? It's like everyone has their favorite, and... fortunately.... there's always one for you that you like.
Tonight Biddy, Bruin and Douglas talk about which kind of donut is the best. Bruin convinces them all that the round kind with the whole in the middle are the best....
And here's why.....
Honestly, whenever Biddy comes up with crazy ideas like this it usually means she's up to something. And, this time it's no different.... wait for it, wait for it.... wait for it.....
Hi everyone. Over the past several years a collection of our listeners have been pledging to support Biddy Bedtime Stories through Patreon.com. They have been doing so by contributing a certain dollar amount for each new episode of Biddy Stories.
By supporting Biddy through Patreon, these generous folks receive a little something in return. Starting in September, we will be introducing something new. For each dollar amount level that a Patreon supporter pledges, that family will be afforded the opportunity to have a special message recorded for their family by anyone in the treehouse. These messages will be written by mom or dad and be emailed to us for one of the treehouse gang to read.
These messages can be words of encouragement, congratulations... most anything. For those pledging $1 per episode, they will have the opportunity for 1 special message each month. Those pledging $2 can have up to 2 recordings per month.... and so on.
So, if you're interested... and who wouldn't be?!.... visit our website, www.biddybedtimestories.com to find out more. In advance... WE THANK YOU! And, to all of our current supporting listeners... well, without your generous support this podcast would not be able to reach a single person.
Sincerely, D, Biddy and all of the treehouse gang.
Douglas toys with the idea of reversing the rolls. He wants Biddy to be the serious person and for himself to be the silly one. It doesn't go to far. However, Douglas does show Biddy, just how funny he can be.
Arts and crafts projects are so so much fun to do. Often times... it's not the thing you make that's so much fun... it's the fun in just making the project. But, no matter what you make there are always some favorites. Among them, glitter and and googly eyes.
Last night Biddy was not interested in recording the story Douglas had written. She thought it was too boring. And, that the punch line was weak.
But, Biddy has agreed to record the story on one condition... that she be able to wear a roll of toilet paper on her head.
And so... here is last night's story done with Biddy wearing a roll of toilet paper on her head. Little did she know the roll of toilet paper would come in handy. Why? Listen to tonight's story and find out...
Thanks go Koo Koo Kangaroo for the use of their song!!! Brian and Neil are wonderful fellow Minnesotans!
Have you ever heard someone say.... "Trust Your Gut"? Well, tonight Biddy and the gang trust their gut. Douglas wrote a story that they really don't like too much and so they all decide to try improvising the story. It doesn't go terribly well. So, Biddy decides to go with Douglas' story.... on one condition....
Biddy decides she wants to start a call in radio show. She wishes to help people with their problems. On the surface, this seems like a very good thing to do... but, we soon find out that our dear Biddy has a little bit of trouble understanding people. This could lead to giving the wrong advice if she's not careful. Will it work? Let's find out.
